Devonport Triathlon a huge success

The Devonport Surf Life Saving Club was the venue for the 2012 Devonport Triathlon. This event attracted elite international athletes representing New Zealand, USA, France, Italy and of course many of Australia's best. The races included the Oceania Championships as well as the New Zealand national championships. Adding to the prestige was the possible accumulation of points towards Olympic selection for the London games in July.
DSLSC's fantastic clubhouse was the base for the event and we can be very proud of the hospitality shown to the organisers, the athletes, coaches and national and international officials alike. Our club provided the water safety for both days (TriKids School events on Friday and all the events of Saturday). Many members started the day before 5AM and we were still going well into the evening. It was very unfortunate that the event clashed with the Senior State Titles so our resources were spread thinly but everything went smoothly in the end. THANK YOU very much for your dedication and professionalism.

Great work Devonport Surf Club, Champions of the Tasmanian State Surf Life Saving Titles at Penguin. Congratulations to all competitors and coaches.Also to our Nippers for a fantastic result last weekend. Winners of the Handicapped trophy and 2nd in the point score!!
